CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental- 58IB rescued a wounded NPA terrorist but died while receiving medical treatment at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center this morning, October 30, 2022.
Jerry Gonzales Bilohan, 22, a resident of Brgy Camuayan, Balingasag, was identified as the wounded NPA terrorist who was cowardly left to die by his comrades and given Php3,000 in exchange for his life.
Said captured NPA terrorist was given first aid treatment by troops to save his life after 58IB troops received information from a concerned citizen that he saw the wounded NPA terrorist near his house.
In the hope of saving the terrorist’s life, troops extracted the injured NPA and brought him to safety. Following a series of medical examinations, it was discovered that the bullet was lodged inside his body, causing complications in his respiratory system. However, the attending physician decided to transport the patient to Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro that evening for further medication intervention.
Dr. Arnies Abdulamalik, MD, the attending physician, declared the NPA terrorist dead due to Respiratory Distress around 4:30 this morning, October 30, 2022.
The Commanding Officer of 58IB, Lt Col Christian C Uy, extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased NPA terrorist. “Our troops exerted all effort to save Jerry’s life, but he died while receiving medical treatment in the hospital.”
This unit, in collaboration with the Balingasag Local Government Unit (LGU), assisted in the transport of the cadaver to his immediate family in Brgy Camuayan, Balingasag, and sought assistance from other line agencies to assist the bereaved family during this difficult time.
“Rest assured, we will continue to carry out our mandate to protect and secure communities, as well as confront those who threaten the well-being and safety of the people; let this be a reminder to those who sow terror that the arms of justice will hunt you,” Lt Col Uy added.
