Indonesian Islamic State supporters expressed their readiness to emigrate via sea from Indonesia to Philippines. To avoid detection, they will disguise as a member of Tabligh Jamaat and travel to the supposed route from Indonesia to Nunukan, Borneo, then to Tawong in Sabah, Malaysia, and to the Philippines that will likely be in Sulu and General Santos City to seek refuge and to link with operating Local Terrorist Groups in the country.
In relation to this, past reports have divulged of the collaboration between these Foreign Terrorist Fighters and the Abu Sayyaf Group. In 2018, an Indonesian named aka Abu Omar, performed “hijrah” or “migration” in the Philippines from Sangir Island, Indonesia to General Santos City.
